Re: [DXX-Rebirth, Windows 10] How do I get the RCK working?
Thanks! D2 Workshop works pretty well, except for a problem I'm having: I want to give the Vulcan/Gauss weapons visible projectiles. I tried giving the Vulcan Bullet the Red Laser Core polymodel, but attempting to use it results in Rebirth crashing to desktop without an error message. Inspecting the ...

[DXX-Rebirth, Windows 10] How do I get the RCK working?
I've got Descent working on Windows 10 and wanted to modify DESCENT2.HAM for a mission I'm working on. I downloaded OTVDM and MSVBVM50.dll to try running the Robot Construction Kit downloaded from http://pumosoft.3d-get.de/documents/destuff.html but I get this error: Capture.PNG It persists even ...

Re: Descent: Mythos
Well, I think that Disintegration started crashing because it was too large in terms of file-size, and I didn't want that to happen to Mythos. That, and I didn't want to give players every weapon in game when they're only half-way through the set. The 2-part thing is just something new I wanted to ...

Re: Descent: Mythos
Also, if any of the level names somehow translate into something offensive in a foreign language, it's purely coincidental, completely un-intended, and I apologize for any offense taken.

Descent: Mythos
I've been working on a levelset to replace \"Disintegration\" since it screwed up. It's going to have 22 (20 + 2 secret) levels and it's split into 2 seperate .HOG files. Here's the current level list: (BEWARE! WALL-OF-TEXT FOLLOWS!) --Part 1-- Level 1: Teisak Mining Compound Level 2: Eta Borycon ...

Re:
I've now had a chance to play up to level 10. The level design on many of the levels (level 4 for instance, and level 9 and 10) is very good for a beginner, but you'll need some practise to catch up with the pros. Some of the levels though (like levels 1, 2 and 3), are too small and the quality isn ...

Re:
It was actually intentional. Interplay knew that people might be able to beat the game on insane, so they added an even harder difficulty. See, the robots stopped trying to shoot at you, and are instead using software beams to lock up your game. It's quite an innovative idea actually. Good one ...

Re:
Have you tried running them under compatibility mode? Right click> Properties> Compatibility tab Set for something like 98SE. I tried, but when I double click TXT2TXB.exe or TXB2TXT.exe, I get a brief flash of the black "command window" and nothing happens. Any other suggestions? :|

Hmm. Oh well, even if I have to remove some levels it'll still be pretty big. And about the soundtracks repeating, I planned for that when I made the set. On that topic, I've edited 2 TEW songs (game03.mid & game26.mid, respectively) and was wondering if it'd be okay to use them as long as I gave ...

An all new Descent II mission
I recently played The Enemy Within (thanks DFW & the crew! :D ) and was inspired to create my own huge levelset. It's going to have *54 levels (36 normal + 18 secret! ) and each level has custom textures, music, and 'bots! Here's a little preview of the robot list, from weakest to toughest ...
