From what I understand, the same is often true in rock, pop, and country.Testiculese wrote:Something I've heard a few times - hardly any of the rappers and R&B 'musicians' write their own lyrics or music. They're just showpieces.

My point is that you don't just regard a song as rubbish based purely on how easy it was to come up for the lyrics of the song!!!!Testiculese wrote:What is your point, Tiger, other than the recurring exclamation point?

Its one thing when you interview someone about a song, and they say:TIGERassault wrote:My point is that you don't just regard a song as rubbish based purely on how easy it was to come up for the lyrics of the song!!!!Testiculese wrote:What is your point, Tiger, other than the recurring exclamation point?

"Yeah, came up with these lyrics in ten minutes, its about a kitten that was once lost in this tree, which is a unique concept for my song catalogue."
But another when they say:
"Came up with these lyrics in ten minutes, it is about slapping my bitches and killing police, like the rest of my catalogue."

Man, can't believe this has actually turned into a discussion. Not too much of a deep one, but a discussion nonetheless.
Really, we all have our tastes. We like what we like and there are things that we don't like. There are things that inspire us, and there are things that don't. There are things that we consider great, and things that we consider rubbish. But of those things we like, admire, and adore, somone else may not feel too highly of them. They fail to see it the way we see it, and we fail to see the positive in the things they like.
We human, we're individuals, and that's where there are many songs, artists, genres, etc... in order to appease certain groups.
But we can't just leave it at that can we? We have to argue, fight and battle for topic supremacy like the internet monkey's we are haha. So while we're arguing, I'll throw in a few grenades to the mix. Some of my favorite rap songs. Although I don't know if I can really consider Outkast rap.

I'm good for now. So post the videos of the stuff you like. I just posted some of my favorite raps, but I'm pretty diverse, as you can see here.

Ok, you asked for it. There are very few rap songs that have caught my attention as interesting. This is one of them:Admiral Thrawn wrote:So post the videos of the stuff you like
WARNING! The topic is abortion, I'm NOT trying to get that debate started again. It's just that while, no, I don't love rap, this song actually seems to have depth of meaning. It's poetry about an event that touched the authors soul. And that makes it art in my opinion:
