I don't think I like the smoke + shot simultaneously. Try just the smoke and change the title on the picture to \"Got Fusion?\"

That flame out the end of the gun would be the muzzle flash.

The blob is already gone. I will say one thing though, I'm not entirely pleased with the smoke effect I had to use. I tried using particles coming out the end of the gun, and then curving upward (like you would see in an old western from a six-shooter), but the damned wind modifier REFUSED to work! Didn't matter what kind or particle source I had! I spent all day yesterday trying to get it to work, and eventually just gave up. What you see there is a simple basic spray with lens effect glow applied.
