While all the worlds news service's fixate their purient attention on Iraqi prisoner abuse, it is refreshing to see this:

http://www.drudgereport.com/iiraq.htm

Somehow I don't think the whole of the muslim world is going to ignite in explosive uprisings because of certain photos.

Zuruck do you believe there are no good deeds or good will coming from the U.S. forces in Iraq? Do you think the reports in our media of our affect on the quality of life in Iraq is fair and balanced?

No one would have you ignore or forget what those asshats did but it would be nice if the news contained an accurate 'big picture' of events over there.

By the way, I hear the Iraqi's don't think it's much of a story as they are used to torture in prison and don't necessarily support the democrat party in our upcoming election so they seem to find our saturated coverage of it to be odd.
They are the ones who are actually living it over there and they have it in context so I'll default to their reaction.
The guilty will be punished and life will go on, the good guys will prevail.
With that in mind I'm no longer even paying attention to the story because it's not being reported in a realistic context but rather it's being reported in a political campain context.

The media has really dropped the ball on the whole war on terror coverage because the election cycle has infected their priorities like a virus.

Z hates good news. It ruins his day. Plus it's obvious those children are CIA agents. Probably double agents also working for Mossad. Damn Zionists! Or else that's the photo just before the soldier raped them all. And then he ate them! Yea, that's it. It's lies, I tells ya, all lies! /me covers ears. lalalalalalalalala Attica! Attica! ;)

Hmmm...funny that you guys don't like it when I immediately rebuff your claim. If I showed an abuse pic off of moveon.org you would immediately dispute it, I reject something off of the drudge report...what's the difference? Is it not possible? I know we are doing good things over there, those people feel great, the country is up and running, democracy is taking hold, it's like a big rainbow of love

Um, Z, MoveOn is an advocacy group. Drudge is a news outlet. Big difference. If you actually read the Drudge Report, you'd see that he rarely writes anything. It's almost entirely just links to other news sources, often left-leaning sources at that. Lefties just hate Drudge cause he broke the Clinton story and got their boy impeached. Typical shoot the messenger syndrome.

I think Will is right though. This abuse is the soup of the day, and we all shouldn't be surprised by it. We, as the best, get to bend the rules as we see fit. We condemn everyone else for not following Geneva Convention rules but then we don't do it either.

Will, I have to ask you. In order to remain as perfectly impartial as you are, where do you get your news? You have to get them from somewhere, who do you choose to spin your stuff? What is the overall picture in Iraq? You think that a year after the mission accomplished banner, we are in the exact spot that the WH wanted?

Anyone else notice now that Cpt_defunct is gone, Z has taken his position as the E&C thread_twisting_nazi? :P

Theres plenty of us here that agree to disagree but there seems like theres always one or two people that totally try to twist the threads into something they're not and then they end up off-topic. Go figure. :P

Whats also interesting to note is that Z promised us back a couple of months ago that he would leave this place and never come back. A shame Xciter didnt transfer all the threads else id point out exactly where he said it, lest I be accused of lying. :)

Z, I love ya sweetie.

Indeed. A shame it and others like it will never be shown on TV.
