I got a good chuckle out of my kids today, got the two older ones hooked up on Descent 1, and they love it!
.... though I'm not so sure the wife is as pleased as I am:
Sadly my daughter is a Mario freak and doens't play anything hard. And it's hard finding anyone who can handle the 6 degrees of freedom in Descent compared to FPS.

Yea, keyboard right off, gonna have to get at least one of them a joystick one of these days, though my daughter does alot better on the mouse now. It'll be a while before they're ready for much more than co-op on easy as far as multiplayer goes tho, you'll notice I have the invuln cheat turned on, they haven't learned to dodge yet!
I didn't start playing till D3 - I think I got through the first 7 levels before using cheats. I always used to get halfway through games then use cheats
Think I started Descent at 10... don't recall needing cheats except for the level 7 boss. Until I game back a year or two later when I'd already done the multiplayer thing.
Mouse can be a surprisingly effective controller - I use that by itself these days and can outmanuever most joystick pilots.
I still have my original disc from when it first came out. It was like the first game I ever bought that came on a CD, I remember being so excited about that.
