A friend create a folder on his desktop with all his My Docs folders/files in it and then drug it to his external HD.
When he checked he had less files/ folders and total size than in the original.
He created a new folder on his desktop with all his my docs in it, selected all, copied all and then pasted into a folder on the external HD and it all copied over.
Any idea why he lost stuff moving the folder and didn't loose any copying and pasting?

Typically happens when dealing with hidden / system files. Like a desktop.ini file didn't copy because it was hidden and excluded from the selection the first time.

These are files and folders in my doc folders. I think that 99% of the files and folders were created by my friend.
Here's a few stats.
Dragging whole folder to external he got 1288 files, 0 folders & 79MB's
Copy and paste folder contents he got 3742 files, 110 folders & 295 MB's

That is a huge difference. If it is Windows set the folder options to show hidden files & folders and see what the content really is. Could be some BS installation temp files that got dump there and never deleted?
I've noticed with some updates and installs the program tends to create some long gibberish folder out of which it installs but in my case it usually seems to get dumped on the largest HHD on my system in the root not in a folder
