there is an alternative chat for the times when PXO is down (thanks a lot bubba!).

Like I noticed, most of the players have no IRC-Tool / no clue how to get one working.

So I made a webpage with a java-applet (it is safe) so that you only have to have a bookmark in the future.

How to:

1. COPY and PASTE this link into your browser (do not click):

http://www.descentforum.de/chat/shadowf ... ALIAS_HERE

2. Change the "PUT_YOUR_ALIAS_HERE" to your alias (maybe Do_Checkor or BUBBALOU or whatever your alias is).

3. Press Return / Enter.

4. Most browsers will ask you if the applet is okay (do you want to install and execute?). Click YES.

5. Bookmark that page after you logged in successfully.

If the java-applet does not appear in the middle of the page please make sure that you have java-applets enabled
in your firewall-settings or browser-security-settings and have a java-machine installed.

If you don't have a browser or a java virtual machine I would recommend to download and install Opera 7.5 WITH JAVA :

If the shadowfire.org server is down or you can't login by any reason you are welcome to join my IRC-Server

It usually doesn't work for me, checkor. The applet loads but I can't connect. I use mIRC instead most of the time anyway.

Remember to connect to irc.shadowfire.org (not trigun.shadowfire.org) If you can't connect to one server, it'll put you on another server on the network.

I tested plenty other servers too (thanks to Sergeant Thorne for his help) but irc.shadowfire.org is the only one that works from germany. It is a lag / timeout-problem of shadowfire in my eyes. Because from germany it is hard to connect sometimes wioth Mirc and trillian too...

hmmmm, well this used to work for me but for the past 4 days it just gives me an unable to connect:null message.

I can't ever connect to descentforum.de, you using some funky port my fire wall don't like?
