I'm using fraps to capture video from my computer. I was wondering, is it possible to run my monitor and also output video simultaneously through my Video card instead? (maybe thru the s-video port)? I don't know anything about this, but it'd be nice if I could do something along these lines, and send it either to another computer or a dv cam to avoid the performance hit that I take when fraps is actively recording?
From the documentation that came with the video card (BFG Geforce FX 5900) it's really unclear as to whether this is possible or not...
From using FRAPS myself, you need to have it save to your hard drive. There's not much you can do. Only thing I can suggest if not record sound or record a demo and then let the demo run while FRAPS is recording.
I didn't think I was being unclear. Sorry if it wasn't evident what my intentions were.
I don't want to use fraps.
I want to output video to an alternate recording medium through my BFG GeForce FX 5900, while simultaneously also being able to view the screen and play.
I want to do so to avoid the performance hits inherent in using fraps. Cutting the HDD out of the loop would only be 1/2 the equation.
Plug your video out into a VCR, then in the nvidia display settings set the multi monitor support to clone. You can play a game on your PC monitor and TV monitor at the same time.
