Post by Diedel »

Holey moley, if these guys pull their project off, I'd play Half-Life another time!

The screenies are *awesome*!

Man, that version of HL would be where HL2 fell short!

Yea, those are definately a major texture & visual improvement from the original. I never made it over to HL2 but just may once this release is finished maybe.

Dude, worst flash interface...ever. \"Hey, I want to click on that picture!\" No, that's right it scrolls to somewhere else as soon as you move over it.

Yeah, and when I clicked on a picture the picture opened but then the whole flash window was "stuck" on move so it followed my mouse everywhere it went. Terrible flash site.

Anyway, this looks great! I loved the original Half-Life story but never found the time to finish it. I did finish Half-Life 2 though. Story wasn't so good with Half-Life 2. If this comes out I will deffinately play through the original game. WooHoo! :)

The project is worth bearing such minor nuisances. Well, is that all that comes to your mind when seeing this marvellous project, nitpickers?

I am amazed that skilled Descent players do not manage to hit the image thumbnails ... :P ... or aren't you?

Ahh, I'm gonna have to check that out when it is finished. Or even if it's not finished. :D

Testiculese,

HL1 redefined the 1st person shooter genre. It was absolutely thrilling, with a real, good story line and dozens of hours game play. (That were the times when a game offered some beefy playtime for its money and couldn't be finished in 10 hours or less ...). HL2 is not bad either, but doesn't raise the bar as much as HL1 did. I am very much looking forward to this HL1 remake.

Btw, there's another shooter based on the Source Engine coming soon: Sin Episodes. From the video, it looks cool. I hope it doesn't turn out to be a rip-off, where you have to pay 20 bucks for each sequel, which proves way too short.

I got HL1 for free with the HL2 that I got for free with the ATI card that I got for free. It sucked, but HL1 was fairly decent. I think it would have been better though if I had played it back in its day. It would have seemed more revolutionary.

The intro music was awesome. I had to get a freeware flash music ripper and downloaded the audio clip. I would buy the game if I knew there was a longer version of that song. Does anyone know if there is a longer version?

Its the first song in the audio section of the flash

I must have played that intro now 20 times so far.

You mean spending hours running from one side of the "world" to another side just to stop a crazy man from escaping to who knows where only to end up having some pale guy in a suit tell you "time? Mr. Freeman, do you have the time?" and then just fade out?

HlafLife 2 had great graphics and physics which kept me playing it but I often felt "can't we be done with this already?". Where as HalfLife 1 had obstacles and interesting inventions at every turn. The story was slowly discovered as I went through the levels with the desire to get to the surface. You kinda know what you need to do the first time you see that "leader's" face on a TV screen in Half Life 2 and all the delays throughout the game just make it more anoying.

I downloaded all the songs from Joels Nielsens site and even sent him an email telling him how much I liked his music. About how some of his songs remind me of Danny Elfman, John Tesh, and Yanni and I wish I could buy them.

I was shocked when he wrote me back :) and said he appreciated my comments but his work is not for sale. I was free to download anything I wanted and he was going to put more up since I was interested. However, he makes his money selling music to game manufacturers. He is a genius.

I merged his music into one long song and play it in my earphones as I play D3. Its an awesome experience and I actually fly in unison with some of the music.
I'm doing that from now on. I usually listen to some charlotte church songs when I play anyway.

Anyone else play music and d3?

Yup, I, myself, have been down that road too many times to count.

I also agree Xamindar, I felt the same way. I also felt like some of the meshes needed a tad bit more detail. Not the human characters. They were fine but some of the monsters needed more work.

The first time I saw that guy on the giant TV. I allready knew who the bad guy was and what the game was going to be about. Sure, some areas of the game were kind of fun but overall, it was very repetitive and linear.

Bet, you listen to Charlotte Church when you play D3? *snicker* :P ;)

Yes, because I sing like her. :)

When I play D3, I still hear the D3 sounds and taunts come thru along with the music I'm playing. I won't play without it.

In the halflife demo, Demo4.mp3 is what I like best other than black mesa. http://www.joelnielsen.com/files/
